New Leadership Elected at Franklin-Southampton Republican Party Mass Meeting
Members in attendance who braved the winter weather voted almost unanimously in favor of a new Chairman of the Combined Committee of the Franklin City / Southampton County Republican Party.

Franklin, Virginia - At an Official Called Mass Meeting of the Combined Committee of the Franklin City / Southampton County Republican Party on Thursday, February 20th, 2020, new leadership was elected to steer the local unit into a bright new future.

The meeting was held at the Southampton County Administrative Complex in the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room despite the blizzard-like conditions.  Special guests included James Spivey, U.S. House of Representatives Candidate seeking the Republican Nomination for the 4th Congressional District, Anthony Speciale, seeking the Republican Nomination for United States Senate, Otto Wachsmann, 2019 Candidate for the 75th District Virginia House of Delegates, and Jennifer Lee, Chair of the 3rd Congressional District Republican Committee.

The incumbent Chairman, Walt Brown, otherwise known as Chief Red Hawk, was not re-elected for a fifth term after serving 8 years as the local party's Committee Chairman.

The newly elected Chairman, Tim Bradshaw of Franklin, Virginia, announced that the party will be open to anyone who believes in the Republican Creed and wants to help further the interests of the Party.

Mr. Bradshaw's first action as Chairman was the creation of a seal / logo for the Franklin-Southampton Republican Party along with a public Facebook page.

Mr. Bradshaw, who also presided over the Mass Meeting as the Mass Meeting Chairman, thanked Mr. Brown for his years of service and allowed the former Chairman to offer closing remarks.  

Teresa Preston remained on the new Executive Committee as Treasurer.  Christopher Cornwell, Member of the Board of Supervisors of Southampton County representing the Berlin-Ivor District, was appointed as the Unit Representative to the 4th Congressional District Republican Committee.

Jennifer Lee remarked that Franklin would finally be represented on the 3rd Congressional District Republican Committee of which it had not had representation for at least 8 years.

Mr. Bradshaw announced that the roles of Vice Chairman and Secretary would be filled as soon as possible.
